P13 (8.7.2019 - 22.7.2019)

  • Commissioning Shift Period: 13
  • Dates: 8.7.2019 - 22.7.2019
  • Commissioning Shift Leader: Moritz Hütten
  • Commissioning Shifters / Experts:
    • Drive: shift crew
    • Camera: Taka (until 6.7.), Yokiho Kobayashi (until 13.7.), Mitsunari (from 27.6.)
    • AMC / Mirrors: shift crew, Tomohiro (from 15.7.), Satoshi (from 17.7.)
    • Former CSL: Dirk Hoffmann (until 7.7.)
    • Others:
  • Shifter: Noah Biederbeck (until 13.7.)

Regular datataking (continued as in P12)

Taken every night, if availability of staff (at least 1 shifter + 1 camera shifter + Commissioning Leader) and meteorological conditions (Watch humidity and temperature limits of camera!) allow.

Note all runs in eLog and RunCatalog!

  • Prepare night data taking (last point), if applicable
    • Unlock telescope
    • Focus mirrors at sunset (not before!)
  • HV off, shutter closed
    • Pedestal 1kHz constant frequency (TIB-triggered): 100k events
    • Pedestal 1kHz random (DRAGON-triggered): 100k events
  • HV on (shutter still closed)
    • Pedestal 1kHz constant frequency (TIB-triggered): 100k events
    • Pedestal 1kHz random (DRAGON-triggered): 100k events
  • Switch on calibration laser, if to be used later
  • Park out telescope (earliest after sunset)
  • HV on, shutter open
  • Move to dark spot.
    • Open the shutter in park position (ZA limit 60°!), but then move to dark spot (to avoid passing cars' lights).
    • RA=211.08° / Dec=+29.52° is a good candidate for the dark spot; you may have others.
    • MAGICs Dark Patch 05 at RA=256.25° / Dec=38.33°
    • Pedestal 1kHz constant frequency (TIB-triggered): 100k events
    • Pedestal 1kHz random (DRAGON-triggered): 100k events
    • Calibration pulses (L1-triggered) 1kHz constant frequency
  • Pointing and data taking
    • Select a target (ask experts, or chose a reasonably active source)
    • Kill noisy pixels
    • Taka data for max. 1 hours
  • Dont' forget the proper shutdown sequence of all elements!

Planned actions

Night: Sky data

Tuesday July 9th

Schneider people repair broken fans in IT container (canceled because of incident)

BP tests with Gustavo/Carlos

  • test with TP and without HV where we perform the initialization, read the settings coarse and fine delay setting from the BP, using TP measure the up+down time, and repeat the cycle again, two or three times?
