Send notification and subscribe to email list
You must inform the safety committee (lst-safety@cta-observatory.org) of your intentions so that your trip can be included in the travel schedule at the LST web site in La Palma. Include the following information:
Name, email, institution Purpose of your travel Expected dates Accommodation (Town name or ORM) Phone number (How to reach you in case of emergency like fire, evacuation, etc) Contact at home for emergencies
You must join the mailing list lst-onsite@cta-observatory.org. Useful information about site and working conditions is regularly shared through this list. You are in fact encouraged to use to contact your colleagues on site. The members of this mailing list and a link to subscribe can be found here.
Read the Documentation
- Read the Safety Document and the other relevant documents on the LST Safety Website. Shift Leaders should read all documents to be familiar with the working procedures of all subsystems. Shifters should at least read the drive container, IT container and reference laser documents.
- Read the Commissioning Manual, some special instructions can be found in the Special Instructions for Shifters.
- Check the Schedule of works on site and who is on shift.
- Check the Incidents Page to understand the more important recent problems.
- Read the recent entries ins the ELOGs to understand the day-by-day activities on site.
ORM Booking
During your shift you must book a room at the ORM Residencia. Fill the form here. Where it asks you for the telescope pick "LST". Unless your institute has an account at the ORM you need to select to pay privately, also use this option if you are not sure. The form of payment can be changed on site. You might want to put in the comments you want a room in the annex apartments which are a bit cheaper, see the current rates. If you say nothing, they put you in the main building.
You can book your meals in the cafeteria through this form.

Commissioning Plans and Shift Schedule 2020
The overall commissioning plan can be found in the first sheet of the LST Commissioning Schedule.
Policy for Camera tests and remote help
For camera tests and to request remote help from the camera experts, there are special policy how to schedule them. The Shift leader should try to enforce them, they are to be followed except in emergency cases which will be coordinated by Camera Coordinator and Deputy Coordinator (Carlos Delgado & Takayuki Saito). Formally, the policies are the following:
- FOR REGULAR DATATAKING
- During datataking, when shifters request help from the camera expert on-call through the whatsapp group "Lst1CamOnCall", the camera expert should take full control of the camera remotely, solve the problem, and return the control to the shifters only after it has been solved.
- Camera expert on-call can, and should, rely on camera subsystems experts if needed to solve the issue.
- In other words, expert on call should not ask shifters to perform any action that can be done remotely.
- FOR CAMERA TESTS BY EXPERTS
- Camera tests should be performed, if possible, during day time on fixed time slots from 14:00 to 19:00 UTC for tests by Europeans, and from 9:00 to 13:00 UTC for tests by Japanese experts.
- Only one slot can be used per day.
- All requests for slots for tests must be planned in advance and a written test procedure has to be provided in order to identify the required resources, as well as a proposed date. This information has to be provided with at least 24 hours before the proposed date to Carlos Delgado, Takayuki Saito and Oscar Blanch.
- Only tests appearing in the camera tests schedule are allowed to be carried out.
- The shift leader has to reject any camera test that has not been scheduled by Carlos Delgado, Takayuki Saito or Oscar Blanch.
- After any camera test, the shifters must perform a DRS4 pedestal run following the commissioning manual to verify the proper function of the camera'.
- In other words, the shift leader has to reject any camera test that has not been scheduled, and the tests must leave the system clean and ready.

Alarms are sent to lst1.c.leader@gmail.com which is installed on the shift leader phone.
