PI: Elisa Prandini (elisa.prandini@unipd.it)

  Source:
RA (J2000) [deg] = 15 55 44.7
DEC (J2000) DEC [deg] = +11 11 41

Observational settings/limits[edit]

Min Zenith [deg] = 0
Max Zenith [deg] = 52
Night Sky Background  = Dark
Wobbles = Standard Wobble
Duration of the observations = 4 hours

Summary of the proposal[edit]

Primary goal of this proposal is the detection of intra-night variability at VHE of the variable, gamma-ray periodic source PG 1553+113. To this purpose, we propose ToO observations based on MAGIC trigger on high states, which should ensure a clear detection in ~20 min with LST. LST data complement the long-term, regular (but short) observations that have been made with the MAGIC telescopes since 2015, focussed on probing longer term variations, from days to years (including periodicity).

Once the ToO is activated, we request a long exposure of 4 hours in dark condition and Zd < 52 deg on the source within a couple of days. Swift-XRT ToO data will be requested as soon as the observations are scheduled.

Flux threshold to activate this ToO: F(>150 GeV) > 0.7 x 10^10 1/cm^2/s (there is a typo in the proposal)

ToO during Cycle 1[edit]
